All About our

Preschool Program

Blessings Academy is a small, family-centered school where your child will never feel lost in a crowd. With just 28 children enrolled, we provide personalized care, a safe, calm environment, and a strong focus on preparing your child for kindergarten. Our mission is to nurture confident, curious learners and create a warm community where families feel supported every step of the way.

Safety

Safety is our top priority. We use a secure entry system so only authorized family members can access the building, and all staff are CPR and First Aid certified. Classrooms are designed for preschoolers’ curiosity, with safe, age-appropriate furniture and learning materials. With our small center size, every child is closely supervised, and teachers know each child by name.

We follow strict cleaning and illness policies to keep children healthy. Classrooms, toys, and common spaces are sanitized daily, and handwashing is built into our daily routines. Because Blessings Academy is a small center, your child is part of a consistent, close-knit group, which helps limit exposure.

Learning and Development

Our preschool program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. We use a research-based curriculum focused on literacy (reading and writing skills), early math, science exploration, and problem-solving, balanced with creative play, art, and music. Children also build social-emotional skills, like empathy, communication, and teamwork, in a nurturing environment that supports their natural curiosity.  Our program ensures that when your child transitions to kindergarten, they’re ready academically, socially, and emotionally.

Preschoolers are learning to navigate their feelings, so we take a gentle, supportive approach. Teachers use positive redirection, calming techniques, and problem-solving strategies to help children regulate emotions and build self-control. We believe discipline is about teaching, not punishing, and we partner with families to support each child.

Meals and Snacks

Your child will have breakfast, lunch and a snack each day while in our care.  We provide healthy, balanced snacks and meals that will broaden your child's palate as well as meet state guidelines for nutrition. If your preschooler has dietary needs or allergies, we work closely with families to ensure that we meet those needs. Mealtime is also a learning opportunity—we encourage preschoolers to practice manners and independence, while also trying new things.

Outdoor time is an important part of your child’s day.  It allows them a chance to release their energy, experience nature, and it provides an opportunity to learn in a different setting.  Children will have at least 60 minutes of play time each day.  If the weather do not permit, outdoor play will be substituted with an indoor activity.

Communication

We use Brightwheel, a secure app to share daily updates, photos, and milestone reports. Parents are always in the loop about meals, rest, activities, and learning goals. We also provide regular conferences and progress reports so you can see how your preschooler is growing academically and socially.

We believe that young children learn best through hands-on play, social interaction, and real-world exploration, so our classrooms are designed to minimize screen time. We focus on building language, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills through books, music, art, sensory play, and outdoor learning.  When technology is used, it’s purposeful and age-appropriate—for example, short educational videos to support a theme or music and movement activities.  Because computers and technology are used in many Kindergarten classrooms, we will introduce different aspects of technology usage.
